Why I Do What I Do

My goal as a counselor is to help people through the process of healing.

My role is to walk alongside individuals and to give attention to all aspects of their well-being – emotional, mental, relational, physical, and spiritual – in order to support them as they move closer toward a place of increased wholeness, wellness, resilience, and peace.

I believe that a large part of personal growth and healing comes when people are able to recognize and build upon their strengths while at the same time being able to express and process their challenges openly and safely in an environment where they feel listened to, respected, and understood. I enjoy helping people to understand how their past experiences impact them in their present circumstances and relationships. Everyone has a life-story to tell, everyone’s stories are different, and all of those stories are still in process.

My hope is to help people feel secure and rooted in a strong sense of identity and to find a sense of meaning and purpose to guide them forward within their own stories. As a counselor, I’m able to provide a welcoming space for this to happen by meeting people where they’re at, while providing compassion, empathy, genuineness, and unconditional positive regard.

My faith and belief in Jesus as a Christian is the most significant reason and motivation for why I do what I do. For those who desire it, I am excited to integrate spiritual and faith-based beliefs with evidence-based clinical skills and expertise.

In my personal time, I enjoy spending time with my wife, loved ones, and my dog. I enjoy hiking, being outdoors and in nature, remaining active, traveling, and finding quiet nooks to read or write.
